New York 2013 part 2

The final photos from our trip and some of the most iconic views.

First the Rockefeller centre to the Top of the Rock. We had previously visited the Empire State Building at night a few years back so decided on the Rockefeller during the day. We didn't actually make it until late afternoon which turns out was perfect.

If you plan visiting either of the buildings try getting their for an hour before sunset, we saw the spectacular views in sun light and slowly as the sun set the city buildings turned their lights on one by one. It's quite a sight.

Remember to wrap up warm, it gets quite chilly at the top and very breezy.

I never feel like spending too much time in Times Square but a photo of it all lit up is a must.

Central Park is a haven when you have been pounding the cities streets for a few days. It feels so good to be able to wander around without people elbow to elbow and all you can hear is birdsong. Again great weather to clamber up the big rocks and look down on the ice rink. We visited Strawberry Fields this time and were lucky to find the 'Guardian of Central Park' about to do his daily talk about this area and how it was bought by Yoko Ono Lennon. John Lennon's building was pointed out and the window where a candle is lit every evening in remembrance.

  1. Beautiful photos! I have never been to the top of the Rockefeller Center but will definitely go when I'm in NYC next. You chose the right time to go so you got to take day and night shots.
