{LUXX Shopping} Harvey Nichols AW13

A few weeks ago I was privileged to attend a small press morning in store with Harvey Nichols's Fashion Director for women's wear Paula Reed (you might recognise her name as former Grazia editor) and Darren Skey Head of Menswear.

Paula and Darren chatted about this seasons coming trends, the new designers each store was stocking and The New Breed. The New Breed is all about moving the store forward appealing to the young style smart customers as much as the traditional Sloane.

On to the trends: Here is a condensed guide as to what to look out for and what brands do it best.

Boy, oh Boy: Tailored androdgyny. Think flat shoes, masculine coats, wide leg trousers, sharp shirts. Brands to buy Dries Van Noten, Paul Smith, Sophie Hulme and Lanvin.

The Fuzz: Teddy bears, Eskimos and all things cuddly. Think Sheepskin curly, brushed, curled and combed. Brands to buy, Proenza Schouler, Isabel Marant, Dom & Ruby and Christopher Kane.

Palette Cleansers:  Sorbet shades in all materials. Think pastel wool coats, layers of pretty chiffon, bon bon coloured accessories. Brands to buy, Richard Nicoll, Barbara Casasola, Roksanda Ilinic.

Learning Curve: Draped, over-sized and belted. Think curvy coats, over-sized sleeves and structured skirts. Brands to buy, Carven, By Malene Birger, Jil Sander and Celine.

The Chunky Knit: Worn instead of Coats. Think textures, cable knits, mohair, oversized, printed and slouched. Brands to buy Carven, Sophie Hulme, Christian Wijnants.

The Skirt Silhouette: Longer fit and flared. Think waves and asymetric. Brands to buy, J.W Anderson, Jonathan Saunders, and Celine.

Last week was the AW13 catwalk show hosted by Harvey Nichols in the Mailbox's Post Box. The show focuses on the new season stock coming into the store, it's always a great occasion to meet up with fellow bloggers and style lovers from around the city.

I'll let the photos from the show do the rest of the talking.

Ready and waiting for the show to start!
